Stop Drop & Roll

By: Latricia Cameron

Remember when you were a kid and you learned about fire safety? They told you if ever your clothes caught fire to STOP, DROP and ROLL! You should stop where you are, drop to the floor and roll around to extinguish the flames. If followed correctly, this could potentially save your life!

Ironically, this same formula can be used to get yourself out of a bad relationship! Oh, your clothes may not be on fire, BUT your soul (mind, will & emotions) is red hot with ungodly lust and passion. Have you ever been in a bad relationship? Are you in one now? You know the one that God has been telling you to get out of for weeks or even months now, but you can't seem to walk away. Or maybe God told you not to get in it in the first place, but you did it anyway ‘cause you were lonely, you heard your clock ticking or you sim- ply wanted someone to hang out with and it turned into something else? You now realize this thing has been set ablaze and you don't know how to get out. Well my friend, you may want to STOP, DROP and ROLL!

STOP.
Put everything on hold and take a step back. Ask yourself "is this the best God has for me?" Look at the relationship with a spiritual eye and evaluate where it is heading or where it's been. Where is it going? Is God pleased with this? Are you still putting God first or has this man replaced Him in your life altogether? What's the verdict? Hit the pause button girl...no, better yet, hit the STOP button.

DROP.
You see the warning signs and you know you're not supposed to be here but you're not sure how to bring it to a close. At this point you're in so deep; you hear the voice of God speak- ing to you clearly "You need to DROP this charade before you go too far." "But I love him!" you tell God, and then He asks you "What is real love?" You're frozen because you can't answer and now you must choose, just as Abraham did, between obedience and your feelings. (Genesis 22:1-18)

ROLL.
Now it's time to ROLL out! Cut your losses, pick up the pieces and keep it movin'. Any relationship that interferes with your relationship with God is not worth keeping. Let it go and if God intended for it to be...it will be!

Married women...don't try this at home... Wink
